Stars: Concrete laws.
Stars: Concrete laws.
Genesis 1:16
The stars appear almost incidentally in the text alongside the greater light and the lesser light, but this does not mean that they are incidental; rather, it means that they indicate laws that we are not yet able to interpret and that do not even appear on an emotional level in our experiences.
While the two great lights contain the laws that we already interpret during our lives or that are at least present on an emotional level, the stars represent laws that we are not yet able to define in any way.
God's laws are all present in the world, because the material world is actually the appearance of God's laws, but we are capable of knowing only what we can already connect in some way to the laws we have come to know so far. The network of relationships among the laws clearly determines which laws we are currently capable of coming to know.
Based on the network of relationships among the laws, we can come to know only those laws that are connected in some way to laws that are already known, because knowing the laws connected to them is the basic condition for perceiving them.
The network of relationships among the laws therefore specifically determines the sequence of their knowability. In the second creation cycle, the laws of time were defined, and then, in the third cycle, the sequence of experiences. The sequence of experiences was arranged according to the sequence in which the laws can become knowable, so that as our knowledge grows, the subsequent experiences show us laws connected to the laws we have already come to know.
The stars therefore represent the laws that we do not yet know, and therefore we cannot know the network of relationships among them either, but we can understand that every law is connected, and based on the network of relationships, each law has its proper place in the system of laws, just as the stars appear to be completely independent objects in the night sky, but are always located in the same place.
No logic can be recognized in their arrangement, but it can be recognized that they are always exactly where they are and that the same stars surround them. In the past, the stars and constellations were even used for navigation because they have a completely stable position in the sky.
The stars are therefore laws that we do not yet know because we do not have sufficient experience to come to know them, but their presence shows that every law becomes knowable in the sequence of experiences, and as our knowledge grows, we become capable of knowing and understanding more and more stars.
